The mysterious heartbeats
Preface
Silverin Jenata, a sensitive designer and seamstress, feels her heart beat faster, and warmth rises in her cheeks as she looks at her client. But he assures her that he has arrived correctly. As she bids him farewell when he departs with the medieval costume, she feels a deep longing for something she cannot quite define.
Everything takes a new turn when she suddenly finds herself on her way to London with her new charismatic friend, Vigdis. Acting as a substitute for Vigdis' friend, Silverin gets a new chance to experience the metropolis to attend a seminar on Spiritual Alchemy. There, she meets the annoyingly handsome Aleksander Holmen. A highly vulnerable Silverin is drawn into a spiritual and physical journey through two past reincarnations that bring her back to Sycharth Castle... a medieval fortress in Wales, and the holy city of Jerusalem.
The universe's plan ensures that those who are meant to meet, meet when Silverin's intuitive knowledge sweeps the ground out from under the hidden Order of The Bright Ninth. But, because the Order simply cannot resist, they are challenged to unite past and present and see that a knight has come to them in the form of a woman.
But... do they dare, or is it too early?
The year 1242 Sycharth in Wales
Blood red on white
It was already autumn when little David Owain Nevitt was born. Maryet, David's five-year-older sister, entered the small hall where the fire crackled and sparkled in the soot-covered fireplace. In her hand she carried a red rose from a rosebush that still bore flowers, even though the cool autumn wind played around the castle walls. The thorns on the stem were strong and terribly sharp.
…….she turned around and waved to her mother, closing the door quietly behind her. Lady Mary Jeanette Nevitt looked down at the special bloodstain and studied it intently.
“Strange... it looks like a star with a cross." She shifted her gaze back to her baby and whispered in his ear:
"There must be something special about you, my beloved son.
Present
The woman stood as close to the lake as possible without getting her feet wet from the waves. She was dressed in an ankle-length turquoise dress with ruffles at the back. The ruffles played in the wind, while her hands were lifted upwards with palms facing the sky. A grey woollen cape that reached down to her thighs hung around her shoulders and played together with the ruffles in her dress.
Jerusalem
At the time when Jesus walked the earth
She stood in the shadow under the olive tree, with her head resting against the tree trunk. She desperately needed some time for herself. A cool breeze brushed her cheek this early morning. She was dressed in a grey-beige ankle-length tunic, with a light brown shawl around her head and shoulders. The shawl draped around her like a long cape, covering her long dark wavy hair that reached almost to her waist when it hung freely down her back.
She looked forward to walking with him today. This was the third day, and she was a woman.
Present
Silverin was still lost in her thoughts when Vigdis nudged her in the side.
"Here comes Aleksander."
Silverin turned away from the small groups below the stairs and looked directly at a face she immediately recognised. It was him. It was the man she had seen sitting in the deep leather chair, the man who had been watching her on that special day at the Deichmanske Library in Oslo.
He stopped right in front of them and looked seriously at Silverin. Without changing his expression, he turned to his sister. "Dear sister... lovely to see you here. But who is this you have with you, and where is your friend?"
Where had she been?
Silverin was reliving these battlefield scenes in her head.
With closed eyes, she whispered into the wind, "Dear Sycharth... have I come home?"
The wind swept over the flat hilltop. Silverin's eyes stared wide open at the sky. The dark clouds were split by a strong light shining down on her with dazzling rays. And even though the light contrasted sharply with the dark clouds, she couldn't close them, but continued to stare up at the sky.
"Have I come home?" she cried out while still being held down on the grassy slope.
